Some thoughts and things regarding furry. Please don’t reblog, but feel free to engage with me.

I didn’t see my body shape represented in drawings until I ran into furry art. I’m a stocky & pudgy person. So, imagine younger me, a 15 year old kid on Deviantart in 2005 who’s not too confident in their body shape and is looking for cool pics only to see the majority of it is just thin bishounen anime boys. It wasn’t fun. But then I ran into furry art and to my surprise there they were! Chubby characters! Yes, I won’t deny much of it was weight gain fetish art, but for me it was still thrilling and better than nothing. A few years later, I ran into kemono art in the form of Gamma G, the concept artist for Morenatsu. He drew chubby guys too, often in slice-of-life situations that I could see myself in. And then I discovered that there’s an entire subset of art on the Japanese side of things with artists who actively enjoyed drawing chubby furry dudes living out normal lives. That meant a lot to me. It still does. And to this day, it feels like the rest of the internet is only just starting to catch up to the body diversity in art thing so it shouldn’t be a surprise to you people jump into furry.

So, beyond the many reasons people get into furry, that’s one too. I would also like to extend a reminder to people thinking about drawing furry stuff sometime but haven’t- you don’t have to jump into the more social aspects of it if you don’t want to. You can still just appreciate the talking animal people aesthetic and have fun with it. Sure, it might lead you to delving deeper into the social scene, but I promise you that you will not need to do so. So just, go hog wild!
