Rocket Punching His Way Into Your Heart!

I’m a history major. I’m about to graduate in May, which got me looking back at the start of this journey. I want to be a self made artist, but before that, I’d like to try teaching because it’s something I’m passionate about. Hence, why I applied to the JET Program.

Thinking back to a few years ago, I remember I used to be one of those jerks that made fun of people for their majors. I especially made fun of philosophy majors because I thought I was being hilarious and edgy. Nowadays though, I don’t really rag on people for their majors because, listen, we’re all in this together. If someone wants to find a job with a philosophy degree, that’s their prerogative. One might argue that philosophy degrees, unless combined with other degrees, can only be used within academia. I don’t see an issue with this.

So please, don’t be That Guy ™ who rags on people for their choice of major. If someone wants to find a job in that field, supporting them and pointing them in the direction of their school’s academic resources and career centers will increase their chances of finding a relevant job. Furthermore, their department’s chair will likely know the inside scoop of said field. Nothing’s guaranteed in life, but making fun of someone for pursuing their academic passion hinders far more than it helps.
