Reblogging here because I want to say a few things about Medibang. I’ve tried it and I have to say it’s a promising freeware art program akin to Clip/Manga Studio. If you’re looking for Photoshop-meets-SAI and don’t want to wait for Clip to have their $15 sales (which is worth it btw) then Medibang works well.

While I’m a huge fan of Clip/Manga Studio, admittedly Medibang has a few advantages: It has a cloud service for file sharing, more screentones to choose from (including stock manga backgrounds) and all of the premium features one would have to pay for in the EX versions of Clip such as multiple page management are free.

My one gripe is that so far the program only really supports Wacom digitizers. It does not play nice with my Surface Pro 3′s N-TRIG digitizers and it works most of the time on my Yiynova which runs UC Logic. I also think the interface isn’t as slick as Clip or Manga Studio’s, but it’s often updated and honestly looks really good by freeware standards. I wish they would include a tablet mode like Manga Studio does where it makes the interface friendly for high res screens.

Anyway, I think it’s worth checking out, especially if you’re on a Mac and can’t really get SAI or can’t afford Clip/Manga Studio just yet.
