Rocket Punching His Way Into Your Heart!
What program did you use for your visual novel thing?
Anonymous

I used Tyrano Builder which is currently 25% for Comiket week!

There are other free programs to make visual novels such as Ren’Py , Visual Novelty, and Cloud Novel but Tyrano Builder streamlines the process and I found it much easier to just jump right into it. I managed to get a solid grasp of the interface within a day of playing around with it.

Now, Ren’Py is the standard and considered the best and to be fair it is. It’s extremely flexible and has a huge support community that’s willing to provide free assets and pre-written code. Ultimately though if dealing with code isn’t your strongest suit, Tyrano Builder is an inviting way of getting started and even allows for Javascript if you’re able to do that sort of thing so I picked it over the others.

As far other engines though, Visual Novelty was headed in the right direction but I found it rather clunky and there haven’t been any updates for it in almost five years. I can’t vouch for Cloud Novel as I haven’t used it, but it’s basically a website for making visual novels. There’s also KiriKiri but it’s all in Japanese.

This started off as a simple question but trailed off into me rambling about visual novel engines, so I apologize, but I do hope this helped a bit!

Ren'py is pretty cool and honesty pretty simple to use! All you gotta do is look up some code bits and copy/paste them...
