Aha, they’re great folk and very dear to me!

So @htodinth got me Makoto Shinkai’s A Sky Longing For Memories art book as an early birthday present (which is next Friday). It’s really good! You might recognize Mr. Shinkai’s background art in 5 Centimeters Per Second and The Place Promised in Our Early Days. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to seriously pursue getting better at drawing backgrounds!
Thanks again, Odin!

After rewatching Tenchi Muyo and Tenchi Universe, I came to the conclusion that it’s not the harem anime genre I have a problem with. I have a problem with how aggressively heteronormative it is. I’d love a really fun LGBTQA+ harem anime that also avoids some of the more problematic aspects of harem anime like an unrealistic portrayal of how romance works.
Harem anime can be fun, but having inclusive ones would be hella rad. Also let’s ditch the blank slate protagonists please. PLEASE.
So I’ve been really busy which is why all I’ve managed are doodles lately. Those that follow my twitter know that besides a heavy course load, I’m also a tutor at my school’s writing center and I’m in the middle of the JET program (A government program for teaching English in Japan) application process which is really taxing in itself.
Once I get the JET application out of the way I might have more time for more involved artwork.
The tragic broadway musical tale of a gundam seeking freedom in the world.
Truly tragic.
Every time I see a popular comic going around part of me is very glad for their success and the other part of me is upset knowing one day some asshole is going to upload it on a content aggregate like 9gag and remove the artist credit from it.
Such is the curse of being handsome
Thank you!
Thank you very much!

Those that know me know that I’ve largely fell out of playing video games. Most games don’t hold my attention for very long. At most I can play an hour of Smash Bros with friends or Mario Kart. I often found myself gravitating towards games with fun characters, great story, honest writing and an interesting or inviting aesthetic to go with it. A lot would argue that mechanics are most important in a game and if that’s your priority so be it but that’s not my priority. This is why I moved toward visual novels for the most part. However, Undertale, not only provides all of those and then some but it also had gameplay that held my attention.
Undertale is quirky, fun, and unique. It has a cast of great characters with fun designs and distinct personalities that bounce off each other very well. I cannot sing this game’s praises enough. At first glance, you might think it’s another indie Earthbound clone. While the influence is certainly there, Undertale manages to be it’s own unique experience.
Aside from the aforementioned points about Undertale the most important thing I want to highlight is that this game proves there’s a market for what I call The Empathetic Player. This type of player is someone who seeks games where they can empathize with the cast at eye level. Undertale provides that in generous amounts. In fact, the entire game can be completed by exercising empathy rather than physical confrontation (and in fact I would argue it’s a far more rewarding experience for the storyline you get out of it). A lot of games these days like to focus on gritty, hopeless situations with characters stuck in a system they cannot escape and Undertale flies in the face of that. I really recommend this game! You can get it for $10 on Steam or directly from Toby’s Undertale website:
